The third edition of Apparel Sourcing Week (ASW) will have a very strong representation from Sri Lanka! An eight-member contingent (six participating under the umbrella of Sri Lanka Chamber of Garment Exporters-SLCGE and two independently) representing the island nation at its very best will mark their powerful presence at the most-awaited sourcing extravaganza of the subcontinent.

On a comeback trail from the worst-ever economic recession Sri Lanka had witnessed in more than last 70 years, the country’s apparel makers and trade bodies are making all possible efforts to reach out strongly to global brands and retailers. Sharing very close relations with India, Sri Lankan garment makers are all set to leverage the platform of ASW to not only try and exploit the vibrant fashion retail sector of India (which is poised to grow into a US $ 106 billion industry by 2026) but also forge meaningful business relations with the multinational brands, retailers and buyers, who would be thronging the two-day event in big numbers to fulfil their sourcing requirements.

SLCGE: Formed in 1992 when the small and medium-scale garment manufacturers needed assistance to obtain Textile Quota allocations in a justifiable way, SLCGE today acts as their representative body and has under its aegis around 60 apparel manufacturers, which it represents at the  Joint Apparel Association Forum (JAAF), the apex body of the apparel industry in Sri Lanka.

Nishara Export & Import (Pvt.) Ltd: Considered a pioneer in the local ladieswear market with products ranging from smart casuals, casuals to girlswear, Nishara has an annual production capacity of over 1,500,000 in a wide variety of apparel, at competitive price points.

Jia Moda (Pvt.) Ltd: Tracing its origin to 2007 (the year of establishment), the company specialises in men's and boy's clothing. It also has a brand with the same name.
